Motion Chassis for the SimCraft Architecture

For SimRacing and Flight Simulation

Below you will find dimensioned drawings and plans of supported chassis designs for the SimCraft architecture. A complete engineered drawing package is available for the sc320 and sc530 chassis designs. The sc220 extruded aluminum chassis is available for purchase as a bolt-together kit and the sc120 build plan is a low cost option for woodworkers.

The publicly available plans presents here are for personal use only and can not be used in a commercial application in any way or format. If you are interested in using them in a commercial application, please contact SimCraft for further details.

sc530 - 3DOF Tubular Aluminum Engineered Drawing Package

A 3DOF tubular aluminum motion chassis, which includes the yaw axis, requires bending and welding.
Below are some example drawings of the overall assembly for a 3DOF sim using the sc530 chassis.

sc520 - 2DOF Tubular Aluminum Engineered Drawing Package

A 2DOF tubular aluminum motion chassis (without the yaw axis) that requires bending and welding.
Below are some example drawings of some major assemblies for this 2DOF sim using the sc520 chassis.

sc320 - 2DOF Tubular Aluminum Engineered Drawing Package

A 2DOF tubular aluminum motion chassis requires bending and welding.
Below are some example drawings of the overall assembly for this 2DOF sim using the sc320 chassis.

sc220 - Extruded Aluminum Build Kit

The sc220 is an extruded aluminum, bolt together, chassis that requires assembly. This build kit is available for purchase from SimCraft as a chassis addon to your STAR kit.
Below are some example pictures of an assembled chassis. An assembly guide is included with a 2DOF STAR and sc220 chassis kit purchase. The RECARO seat, race wheel/pedals, and monitor shown are not included with the chassis.

sc120 - Lumber

Build your own motion chassis in about a weekend out of lumber according to our publicly available plans.

Build Manual
SimCraft STAR video This assembly manual is a guide to building a wooden chassis for use with a SimCraft STAR system. While this manual is a step-by-step instructional, the contents of the design contained within this document are perfectly functional, yet simplistically basic. The end product (your sim) that you spend your own time to craft can be modified to suit your needs, your ideas, or your requirements. Similar chassis constructed from welded metals would be perfectly suitable if you have the tools, the skill, and/ or the resources to accomplish what you can imagine. Should you desire to make modifications to your system and stray from this guide, best of luck, and most importantly: have fun! We ask that you adhere with our dimensional specification, contained in Appendix A - the SimCraft standard, in order to maintain a performance level that is synonymous with the SimCraft architecture.
